Miss Universe Australia Erin McNaught says growing up with older brothers "doing typical boys stuff" has equipped her to host a national television show featuring gadgets and games.
The 24-year-old Gold Coast model said she was "over the moon" about becoming the new face of Network Ten's Cybershack next year.
McNaught said the adrenalin-charged program involved her testing out the latest video games before undertaking a "real-life version" to compare the two experiences.
The former biology student said the new gig would also see her explore the latest gadgets and technologies.
"I'm absolutely over the moon about it - my whole upbringing was with older brothers doing typical boys stuff so now I get to put that to use," McNaught told AAP.
"They're the ones that got me into mountain biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing - things that I may not have gotten into if I didn't have brothers."
McNaught has made no secret of her wish to establish herself as "not just a beauty queen that's trying to make good".
And she said the television presenting role marked a new era in her career, branching out from the Miss Universe 2006 competition and magazine spreads.
"As far as actual jobs go this is by far the most exciting and the furthest I've gone so far," McNaught said.
"It's definitely different to what I've done - I've been wanting to get into TV for a while."
McNaught said she landed the role after her agent sent in an audition tape featuring the bronzed beauty learning how to surf and ride motocross at Sydney's Bondi Beach and Oran Park respectively.
"I would continue to do the show forever if I could - it's that much fun," she said.
McNaught said she would be moving to Sydney to film Cybershack from January 15, and embark on other activities between shooting episodes such as acting training.
Her first episode of Cybershack, which will air on Monday nights, will hit the box on February 19.
