AP - Lost star Daniel Dae Kim has entered an initial plea of not guilty to a drink driving charge in Hawaii.
Kim's lawyer said the not guilty plea was only a legal formality as his defence strategy is being planned.
Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon on the TV series, was arrested on October 25 when a Honolulu police officer spotted him driving erratically. He had a blood-alcohol level of 0.168, more than twice the legal limit in Hawaii.
He was the fourth actor on the show to run into trouble with the law while filming in the state.
Defence lawyer Patrick McPherson said Kim is sorry for his actions.
"He made an apology to the state, the people of Hawaii and his fans," McPherson said outside the courtroom today. "He pleaded not guilty and requested a trial date."
Kim did not appear with his lawyer at the arraignment in District Court. His trial was set for February 15.
Kim's driver's licence was revoked on November 16 for six months, said Ronald Sakata, chief adjudicator for the Administrative Driver's Licence Revocation Office.
Kim, 39, portrays a Korean tough guy on the show who at first was overly protective of his wife, Sun, before he began to warm up to other characters on the mysterious island where Lost is set.
Other Lost stars who were arrested had their characters killed off on the show soon afterward. The roles of Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were eliminated in 2005 after they pleaded guilty to drink driving.
Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje lost his role on the show after he was arrested for a traffic violation and accused of disobeying a police officer and driving without a licence. The charges were dropped.
Five other cast members working in Hawaii have been cited for traffic violations, mostly for speeding, according to police.
