Julia Gillard is rivalling the likes of former Miss Universe Jennifer Hawkins in a men's magazine poll to find Australia's 50 sexiest women.
The federal Labor deputy leader made a list of 87 contenders in a "50 Sexiest Aussie Babes" survey by FHM magazine.
Within the last 24 hours the magazine says its website fhm.com.au has been inundated with more than 1,000 votes for 45-year-old Ms Gillard.
She is placed fifth so far in the poll with the top 50 to be announced on Monday, February 4.
Other nominees polling strongly include Krystal Forscutt from Big Brother, swimwear model Emily Scott and Ms Hawkins.
Today show co-host Sarah Murdoch, convicted drug trafficker Schapelle Corby and 2006 Miss Universe Australia entrant Erin McNaught are also in the top 10.
"Sexiness isn't something you usually associate with deputy opposition leaders," FHM deputy editor Ben Smithurst said.
"We're certainly surprised how well she's polling at this stage, but then, politicians are renowned for using publicity to their advantage.
"Then again, maybe the government has been looking longingly across the floor at Julia for years. Fiery redheads usually have a secret admirer or two."
Ms Gillard is currently overseas and couldn't be contacted for comment on the survey results.
The FHM list of contenders includes the usual array of young soap stars and models.
Elle MacPherson, Crown Princess Mary, Kylie Minogue and retired Test cricketer Shane Warne's estranged wife Simone are also on the list.
While Ms Gillard made the cut, another well-known redhead Nicole Kidman missed out.
