AP - At least 15 people were killed and 35 more are missing after a boat capsized and sank on the flood-swollen Ganges River in northern India, an official said.
The boat, carrying some 70 people, apparently overturned due to strong currents, said Manoj Shrivastav, the Bihar state disaster management secretary.
So far 15 bodies have been found and rescue workers were searching for about 35 more people he said, adding that darkness was hampering rescue efforts. Some 20 people swam ashore.
Devastating floods in the area have caused rivers to burst their banks and killed more than 350 people in recent days.
Boat accidents are common in India where overloading is common and few safety regulations exist.
