Mr Bean's quirky road trip through the French countryside to the celebrity glamour of the Cannes Film Festival has grossed more than $3.8 million in its opening weekend at the Australian box office.
The exceptional figure makes Mr Bean's Holiday the highest grossing opening weekend feature for 2007, just ahead of The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith.
The Pursuit of Happyness launched on January 11, grossing $3.5 million in its first weekend in Australian cinemas.
It's been 10 years since Mr Bean's first film opened in Australia, but the man known for his trademark tweed suits and closest companion Teddy, proved he's still got appeal Down Under.
Portrayed by English actor Rowan Atkinson for more than 15 years, Mr Bean has become famous around the globe.
However, one has to wonder if the hefty ticket sales are due to Atkinson's recent remarks that Mr Bean's Holiday could be his famous alter-egos last gig on the big screen?
"He's a really fun character and I am very comfortable inside his skin ... but it's unlikely that Mr Bean will appear in a film again," Atkinson told AAP while promoting the film in Australia last month.
Bikie flick Wild Hogs, which opened on March 8, grossed the second largest sum last weekend with $1.3 million.
Animated children's film Meet The Robinsons was third, grossing $907,322 in its opening weekend.
