A United Arab Emirates tycoon spent 25.2 million dirhams (nearly $7 million) for a car licence plate displaying the number five for his red Rolls Royce car at a charity auction in the Gulf state.
"Although I am convinced that number five is not worth even one million (dirhams), I would have bought without hesitation had it reached 50 million so long as the purpose is charity," Emarat al-Youm newspaper quoted Talal al-Khoari, 35, as saying.
The auction's proceeds go to charity activities overseen by the government of the oil-exporting nation.
Khoari, chief executive of a holding firm, said his will stipulates a third of his wealth be donated to charity.
