High profile breakfast radio duo Kyle and Jackie O have been caught passing off a two-month-old interview with Justin Timberlake as being live.
The 2DAY FM team re-aired the phone interview with Timberlake yesterday after his first sold out show at Acer Arena in Sydney.
Rival Sydney station Nova are the exclusive media partner for Timberlake's Australian tour, and 2DAY were prevented from gaining any interviews with the pop star.
Not to be left out, producers for the pair re-aired a phone interview done with the star several months ago on the morning show.
"Justin Timberlake, on air, on the phone, we promised you we'd talk to him — JT welcome to the show."
After being caught out, a 2DAY FM spokeswoman claimed it was a 'last minute' replacement and they never tried to manipulate their audience.
"Because Justin is in town at the moment the interview was very newsworthy, and the team just thought they may as well get some use out of it," a 2DAY FM spokeswoman said.
"From out point of view it's not really an issue."
