Terri Irwin has revealed husband Steve, who passed away suddenly a year ago, encouraged her to remarry if he died first.
In an exclusive interview with Tracy Grimshaw to be aired on A Current Affair tonight, Mrs Irwin said the Crocodile Hunter knew he would die young and told her to find love again after his death.
"Steve himself would say to me, if anything ever happened to me I would hope that you would remarry ...but I don't know when or if I ever would," she said.
Mrs Irwin also hit back at claims her daughter Bindi is spending too much time in the public eye. Terri Irwin said she was concerned at claims her daughter was not being allowed to grieve properly following her father's death and defended Bindi's many public appearances.
"If a child is not coping that's when intervention needs to take place and that's what I have watched for," Mrs Irwin said.
"I have watched for Bindi's grades changing, I have watched for her behaviour changing maybe insomnia, fearfulness anything that may be different or abnormal and the fact that she is doing OK. It OK that she can stand up and speak eloquently and seem happy, it's ok that she is happy."
A year after the Crocodile Hunter's death, his wife has written a book about coping with her loss and raising her children alone.
