Contrary to reports earlier this morning, Delta Goodrem has accepted Irish pop singer boyfriend Brian McFadden's marriage proposal.
The pop starlet and actress's spokeswoman Jennifer Fontaine released a brief statement around midday today confirming the good news.
"Contrary to false reports, the couple were hoping to keep the news private," she said.
"However they feel it is important to now confirm their exciting news."
The report signals for Goodrem a change in relations with McFadden's two children Molly, 6 and Lily-Sue, 4 from his marriage to Atomic Kitten pop starlet Kerry Katona.
The latest news is in stunning contrast to earlier gossip: Goodrem was said to be in emotional turmoil over the decision, and a planned trip to Bali was believed cancelled.
Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph had reported Goodrem struggled with the idea of becoming a stepmother to McFadden's two children from an earlier marriage to UK popstar Kerry Katona.
"She really loves him very much, but doesn't want to be a mum so soon," an insider told the Telegraph.
"It's a huge responsibility and she's still too young."
Goodrem recently told a magazine of the struggle to win McFadden's kids' affection following the breakup of his first marriage.
"I love the kids, but admit it was very hard when it started," Goodrem said.
