Former drug addict Courtney Love has asked bombshell Scarlett Johansson to play her in a film about her dead husband, Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain.
Love, 43, is executive producer of the film, titled Heavier Than Heaven. She has already posted a contract to Johansson, London's Daily Mirror reports.
But some critics doubted Johansson, the elegant star of Lost in Translation, would consider the $70 million project, based on Charles Cross's biography of Cobain.
Love and Cobain's tragic marriage was a sideshow of excess, encompassing drugs, arrests, overdoses and Cobain's eventual suicide in 1994.
Love, who released a memoir-style book titled Dirty Blonde in 2006, also said she wanted Half Nelson actor Ryan Gosling to play her late husband in the film.
Love plans to stay on the film's set full-time, to give Johansson and Gosling advice on accurately portraying her two-year-marriage to Cobain.
Love has been raving about Johansson, who she knows from the LA party scene, according to the Mirror.
A number of commentators were less than kind about the plan.
"Not sure if Courtney knows this, but Scar Jo is what we call an A-List actress," Hollywood gossip website Hollyscoop said.
