Mark Burrows started his career in television in Hobart in 1980 and has spent the past 20 years with Nine.
In 2002, he led Nine's coverage of the Bali bombings. His interviews with victims and an exclusive interview with the bombers earned Nine a Walkley and a Logie for outstanding news coverage.
Mark returned to Bali in 2004 and secured the first-ever interview with drug smuggler Schapelle Corby. He returned to the island many times to cover her trial and also the verdicts for the Bali Nine and model Michelle Leslie. With the region wracked with terrorist strikes, Burrows has reported on several bombings, including the attack on the Australian Embassy in Jakarta and the latest bombing in Bali.
During his career, Mark has had a box seat to many history-making stories. His first Logie was awarded in 1989 for his coverage of the Romanian revolution.
In 1992 he was posted to Nine's bureau in the US. In the course of five years, his reports included the riots and earthquakes in Los Angeles and two presidential campaigns. He travelled widely, including to South America and Cuba.
He joined Nine's London bureau in 1997 just months before the death of Princess Diana.
During his time in Europe, Mark reported from Russia, the Middle East, Iraq and Kosovo. He was a frequent visitor to the Spanish island of Majorca, reporting on fugitive Christopher Skase. In July, 1999, Mark was part of the team that covered the Interlaken canyon disaster in Switzerland. The coverage earned another prestigious Walkley award.
More recently Mark was back on hometurf covering the Beaconsfield Mine rescue.
