A substitute teacher's ploy to silence his classroom with a striptease has backfired spectacularly after footage of the stunt appeared on the internet.
The portly middle-aged educator threatened to make students look at his body when the class of high school students in Suffolk on England's east coast got unruly.
Perhaps inevitably the students called his bluff and the teacher followed through with his threat, not realising one of the teens filmed the prank on his mobile phone.
The student then forwarded the 53-second clip to classmates and the clip spread so quickly the school principal viewed it — and the substitute was sacked — by the end of the day.
Matters got worse when the footage was posted on YouTube under the title Teacher Strip, with the poster betraying their lack of effort in class by commenting "make sure your not eating when ur wachin this [sic]."
Will Theobald, 17, who uploaded the clip, was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "About a quarter of the students had the clip on their phone: everyone called him Gimli after the character in Lord of the Rings.
"I don't know what he was thinking — you can't do stuff like that and get away with it."
During the strip, pupils can be heard laughing, cheering and screaming, with one girl shouting out "oh my god!" followed by "bless him".
The teacher was hired for the day from UK Teaching Agency in Radlett, Hertfordshire but no one from the company was available to comment.
A Suffolk County Council spokesman said: "It was not planned or part of a lesson, it was just his reaction to a behaviour situation."
The footage has since been taken down from the site.
