Aussie actress Melissa George is hotly tipped to steam up the set of Grey's Anatomy by playing an intern who has a lesbian tryst with one of the leading characters, a report claims.
George, 32, is poised to sign on as a regular to appear in the sixth series of the hit US show, website ew.com said.
The gig would reportedly see her play a budding medico with a crush on one of the show's established female characters, with early speculation pointing to either Callie (Sara Ramirez) or Erica (Brooke Smith).
A part in the top-rating drama would be a major step in the career of the Perth-born actress, who has racked up a number of mostly guest roles on US shows in recent years.
She memorably played the evil wife of Michael Vartan in the Jennifer Garner vehicle Alias, following bit parts in Roar, Charmed and Monk.
And if she lands the role in Grey's, it won't be the first time George has played a character attracted to the same sex.
She had a two-episode stint on sitcom Friends in 2003 as a lesbian nanny called Molly.
George shot to fame as the love interest of Dieter Brummer in local soap Home and Away in the early '90s, before moving to overseas to try her luck in Tinseltown.
She lives in LA with husband Claudio Dabed and his 13-year-old daughter Martina.
