A resident of the hotel where Australian Idol contestant Levi Kereama plunged to his death believes the singer's death was an accident.
Ben Shaw, who was staying at Brisbane's Oaks Felix Hotel where Kereama's body was found on Saturday night, said it was possible the 27-year-old singer fell tragically from the 20th floor of the hotel after losing his balance while sitting on the balcony.
"It is a glass wall with an aluminium capping on it," the Daily Telegraph reported Mr Shaw as saying.
"It is really thin. You couldn't stand on it.
"You wouldn't be able to leap off."
Kereama's family has strongly denied allegations the 27-year-old singer was suffering depression and took his own life.
"He just fell from a hotel apartment," Levi's brother Jules Kereama said.
"It was just an accident.
"He was just there with a friend having a fun day."
The former car detailer's body was found on the hotel's ground level at about 10.30pm after he had attended the Parklife music festival in the city's Botanic Gardens.
Since finishing sixth in the inaugural season of Idol in 2003, Levi and brothers Jules, Ezra and Lane Kereama performed in family band The Bridge.
He will be farewelled at a public funeral on Thursday in Kawawatha, south of Brisbane.
