The buzz about train delays at Sydney's suburban Redfern station today was bees.
A swarm of them took to the tracks about 1pm (AEDT).
They decided to hang out around platform four and pretty soon they had it all to themselves.
Station staff erected barriers to keep commuters out, said a Cityrail spokesman, rather than the bees in.
"A bee handler was called on site and we then temporarily diverted trains from that track to allow the bees to be dispersed," the spokesman said in a statement.
"There were no delays to CityRail services and the track was cleared in time for the PM (afternoon) peak."
Journalist Chris Hutchings was on her way to work at AAP when she found platforms four and five blocked off.
As a result, trains were running late and stopping at another platform.
"The platform guard told me the trains were banked up at Central Station, and were being shunted through as quickly as possible," she said.
"You could see the bees all flying around.
"A few people were getting a bit worried because there was quite a lot of them.
"I was glad to get out of there."
