After decades of using its characters to sell
children endless supplies of junk-food, Disney announced plans to begin selling a line of fruits and vegetables with the help of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy.
Disney Consumer Products said the Disney Garden products would be available in supermarkets across the US in the coming weeks.
Adorned with the likeness of the iconic characters in a Mickey- Mouse shaped package, the healthy fare will have names like Totally
Teriyaki Sugar Snap Peas, Sunny Honey Orange Carrot Coins, Threezy Cheezy Broccoli Bites, and My Size Minis and Foodles.
All of the products meet Disney's food guidelines which place limits on calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar and sodium.
"Disney Garden offers delicious combinations of fresh fruits and vegetables with sauces, dips and sides that will get kids excited about eating better. We've packaged the line in a colourful way that truly captures Disney's magical appeal," said Disney executive Harry Dolman.
"Parents want healthier options that are easy to prepare and serve, and kids like tasty choices that are fun and appealing. Disney Garden is a win-win solution for today's busy families."
