Police say they have smashed a major drug and gun syndicate on the NSW south coast.
Strike Force Liffey officers busted the alleged ring on Tuesday after a three-month investigation into the supply of heroin and crystal methamphetamine (ice), and firearms in the Illawarra area.
Two men were arrested during a vehicle stop in Moran Avenue, Dapto, about 12pm (AEDT), police said.
Another seven were arrested during the search of four homes in Dapto and Unanderra, where electrical equipment, guns, knives, samurai swords, jewellery, drugs and cash were allegedly seized.
All nine accused have been charged with a series of drug and/or weapons offences.
Two were bailed while the others remain in custody, and all will face Wollongong Local Court on various dates in December.
