US television star Heidi Montag has denied she is addicted to plastic surgery despite reports she underwent 10 cosmetic procedures in one day last year.
The 23-year-old The Hills star previously came under fire after she was quoted in People magazine saying she was “beyond obsessed” with plastic surgery.
But she backed away from those claims during an interview with Good Morning America yesterday when she was asked what she would say to people who think she is a plastic surgery addict.
"I would say that none of those people know me at all, and that's just a judgment,” she said.
“I'm not addicted, if I were addicted, I would have had 10 plastic surgeries."
However, according to People, she did have exactly that many operations in one day late last year.
“What she had, actually, was 10 procedures on the same day, back in November,” People reported after interviewing Montag last week.
“This followed a previous surgery three years ago.”
Montag was also asked on Good Morning America whether she wanted to look like a Barbie doll.
"I think I look like myself … I think I just look like a different, improved version of myself,” she said.
"I'm living in my skin, and I look in the mirror and it's my career and my life, and you only have one.
“So, I want to take advantage of everything and be the best me, in and out, every way."
Montag has faced a backlash of criticism since her comments about being obsessed with plastic surgery were published last week.
Audrina Partridge, who appears alongside Montag in The Hills, was quoted as saying: “Ten procedures in one day is a little much.”
And Lo Bosworth, another one of Montag’s co-stars, said she was worried about the effect the article would have on young women.
“I hope that girls don't read the article, look at the decisions that Heidi made, and think that's normal.”
