MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin has described the stress her sudden fame placed on her family and marriage.
The NSW Central Coast mother-of-three says her three-month absence from the family home during the reality show filming — combined with becoming an instant celebrity — took its toll on her 14-year-marriage to husband Joe.
"MasterChef and everything that followed really, really tested us," the Daily Telegraph reported Goodwin as saying.
"You see a lot of people come out of these reality TV shows and that full-on experience and they split up.
"I completely understand why that would happen."
Goodwin has three sons — Joe, 14, Tom, 13, and Paddy, 11.
She won the television competition's first season last July to claim $100,000 in prize money and a deal to publish her own cookbook.
The home-style cooking specialist has since signed with the Nine Network to appear on TODAY as the cooking expert, beginning tomorrow.
