MasterChef winner Julie Goodwin has described the stress her sudden fame placed on her family and marriage.
The NSW Central Coast mother-of-three says her three-month absence from the family home during the reality show filming combined with becoming an instant celebrity took its toll on her 14-year-marriage to husband Joe.
"MasterChef and everything that followed really, really tested us," the Daily Telegraph reported Goodwin as saying.
"You see a lot of people come out of these reality TV shows and that full-on experience and they split up.
"I completely understand why that would happen."
Goodwin has three sons Joe, 14, Tom, 13, and Paddy, 11.
She won the television competition's first season last July to claim $100,000 in prize money and a deal to publish her own cookbook.
The home-style cooking specialist has since signed with the Nine Network to appear on TODAY as the cooking expert, beginning tomorrow.
