A star-studded lineup including musician Ash Grunwald and comedian Ross Noble will join school children from Victoria's bushfire-affected areas to perform a huge `thank you' concert next month.
Kinglake resident Ross Buchanan said the April 7 event will pay tribute to the people of Victoria who gave so generously to help communities affected by last year's February 7 bushfires.
Mr Buchanan, who lost two children in the inferno, said it was time to say thank you.
Up to 30 musicians and performers will feature at the 10-hour free concert to be held at Melbourne's Federation Square.
"We wanted to come down to the people of Melbourne," Mr Buchanan told AAP.
The event is being organised by members of the Kinglake Ranges communities but was not intended to just represent that area, Mr Buchanan said.
"April 7 will be about the communities of Kinglake Ranges and surrounding areas on behalf of 107 fire-affected towns to say thank you to the people of Melbourne and to the people of Victoria for their kind donations, well wishes and thoughts during Black Saturday...last year," he said.
Musician Cam Tapp, who penned the song `Lest We Forget' in the aftermath of the fires, will perform at the concert alongside the schoolchildren who feature in the song's recording.
The proceeds from the single were donated to Marysville, Strathewen and Middle Kinglake primary schools, which were all destroyed on Black Saturday.
Artwork will also be on display at the event, which Mr Buchanan said would be cathartic for the people involved.
"That is part of the healing process for ourselves, because music and art is a great way to self-heal.
