Australian cosmetic king Napoleon Perdis has urged women to start looking after themselves from a younger age - and that includes botox.

Perdis says he'd advise against plastic surgery, but believes injectables and cosmetic enhancements are "going to become a part of life".

"I think they should start younger with maintaining youth through injectables and through makeup technique and cosmetic enhancement like laser," Perdis told AAP.

"I think people should avoid complete surgery because you kind of let everything droop and you pick it all up and it looks unnatural.

"But if you start maintaining it from a little bit younger you're not going to have these (problems)."

Perdis however said if women really wanted plastic surgery, they should do it because he believes in a "free society".

Perdis has come up with a makeup technique that he believes will instantly peel away the years, called "the no-surgery facelift".

It is detailed in his new book Forever Flawless: How to Look Your Best at any Age.

The process involves shading and contouring specific areas using concealers and foundations.

It has earned him the title of makeup genius in US Elle magazine's April 2010 issue.

US-based Perdis is in Australia promoting his book and will bring his touch to Australian Fashion Week next week.

He said purple and plum lipsticks and extreme eyelashes are among the latest trends.

"Mascara, fake lashes, intense lash, lashes are big. And will be here for a very long time," said Perdis, who recently worked his magic on New York's fashion week.

Perdis has been making a big name for himself in the US for the past five years.

But he said he'd like to take it further to penetrate the south.

"I want 30,000 doors over here, I'm only at two and a half thousand. I want to be everywhere."

He also has plans for Europe, another series of his TV show, and an eco-friendly makeup range.

Perdis says he wants to take the Australian earthy look back to the US.

"Australia is really that forefront of European glamour meets Australian freshness," he said.

"I kind of call it this trans-Pacific look - it's kind of beautiful and trans-generational. And we do it really well," Perdis said.

He praised the way Australian women look, saying they competed with anyone in America or Europe.
