A former star of the long-running Bachelor reality series has died in a New Orleans hospital.
Gia Allemand, who made it to the final three contestants in the 14th season of the US series in 2010, was rushed to hospital on Monday after an apparent suicide attempt.
Allemand, 29, was placed on life support after suffering a "critical loss of brain and organ function".
She died today with family and friends at her side.
"Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side," a statement from her family read.
"As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites."
Vienna Girardi, who won season 14, took to Twitter after learning of her co-star's death.
"Gia you are my angel! You changed so many lives with your beautiful soul and will be missed and loved forever," she wrote.
Jake Pavelka, the "Bachelor" from Allemand's season, tweeted after he found out about her death.
"I had to pull over, I can't stop crying. We have lost an angel," he said.
