September 06, 2013: Will Ferrell has recorded an Australian election message, as his 'Anchorman' character Ron Burgundy.

Hollywood star Will Ferrell has released a video as Anchorman protagonist Ron Burgundy in the lead-up to tomorrow's Australian federal election.

In the brief clip uploaded to YouTube this afternoon, Ferrell sits at a news desk for fictional channel Global News Network.

"Well Australia, while the battle of the titans has come to an end, we will never forget the mental fisticuffs in which Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard were engaged," he said.

"We laughed, we cried, we became distracted by Tony Abbott's banana hammock — I certainly did."

The clip comes in anticipation of the sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which is released later this year.
