January 13, 2014: The Golden Globes red carpet has been put on hold while organisers work to repair a fire sprinkler which has left the entrance to the awards waterlogged.

A very different kind of drama has hit the Golden Globes with a burst water pipe flooding the red carpet.

Security officers have now shut down the iconic carpet and forced waiting media to evacuate the area.

A rush is now underway to have the area dried and clean before stars begin arriving for the awards ceremony later today.

It is believed heat from a light activated a sprinkler in the fire system.
