Brinkley 'needs therapy for taste in men'

Christie Brinkley should seek help over her taste in men while philandering husband Peter Cook is a sexually compulsive egomaniac, the pair’s divorce hearing has heard.

Court-appointed psychiatrist Stephen Herman recommended Brinkley go into therapy in the wake of her bitter split with Cook, who in 2005 cheated on the supermodel with a teenager in his employ.

"She needs to start working on therapy issues relating to her parenting," Mr Hermann was quoted in the New York Daily News as saying.

"[And] maybe her choice of male figures ... certain motivations that she had herself that can get her into trouble."

Brinkley, 54, has previously divorced three other husbands — singer Billy Joel, developer Ricky Taubman and artist Jean-Francois Allaux.

Responding to the claims, Brinkley said she was reluctant to go into therapy but would do so if it meant she could retain custody of her two kids, 13-year-old Jack and 10-year-old Sailor Lee.

It appears likely the beauty will have her wish, with Hermann saying that despite Brinkley’s flaws she was in a better position to raise the children than her "narcissistic" husband.

Hermann described Cook’s affair with Diana Bianchi, then 18, as "impulsive, self-destuctive, possibly compulsive" and said he continually displayed “poor judgement" with his sexual habits and two-hour-a-day porn addiction.

"He needs constant reassurance that he is a terrific guy, handsome, accomplished," Mr Hermann told the court.

"Where most people need some quiet 'feeding' with their egos, Mr Cook has an insatiable appetite."

The hearing continues.
