Former pop singer and page three girl Samantha Fox is being treated for rabies after being savaged by a feral cat.
The 44-year-old may have contracted the potentially fatal disease after going to Thailand and befriending some stray cats.
Fox, who was on holidays with her girlfriend on the island of Koh Samui, said she was feeding stray cats that gathered around the restaurant she was eating at when one of them attacked her.
Fox was upset that cats in Thailand were "treated like rats", according to an interview in the UK's Sunday Express newspaper.
"This one was laying on my feet and I thought we were getting on really well so I went to stroke him, but it bit me so hard, it went down to the bone," Fox said.
The restaurant owner told her it was a "crazy cat" that was likely to have rabies.
Fox received a series of anti-rabies jabs at the island's hospital and has continued medical treatment since returning to the UK.
Rabies symptoms — which may take weeks or months to develop — include high fever, chronic headaches and a fear of water.
The experience has not put Fox off cats — she and her girlfriend keep four cats in their London home.
