Golden Globes organisers may have accidently announced the winner of the coveted best actress category days before the awards ceremony.
Anne Hathaway, 26, is now red-hot favourite to win the gong after a star graphic — which indicates award winners — was put next to her name on the Golden Globes official website.
The star was later taken off the site and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which runs the ceremony, has refused to comment on the incident.
It is not clear whether the website blunder was a technical error or a major leak of the award results, due to be announced on Sunday night in the US.
Hathaway, who was nominated for her role in Rachel Getting Married, told US gossip website Access she was trying to ignore the promising revelation.
"I think it was just a glitch," she was quoted by the website as saying.
"I don't really read into it and I don't think anyone else should."
But some betting agencies, including Centrebet in Australia, have already stopped taking wagers on the best actress winner, fearing the cat has been let out of the bag.
Other nominees for the best actress award include Hollywood heavyweights Angelina Jolie for Changeling and Meryl Streep for her performance as a tyrannical nun in Doubt.
