Dannii Minogue has bucked the celebrity trend of selling baby photos to the highest bidder by posting the first snap of her newborn boy on Twitter.
Minogue, 38, unexpectedly posted the shot of herself, partner Kris Smith and baby Ethan Edward on the migro-blogging site shortly before 4pm (AEST) today.
"Hey everyone thanks for all your wishes, we are loving baby Ethan and Kris is the best dad in the world. X," she tweeted.
Smith posted a close-up shot of Ethan on his own Twitter page a short time later.
Minogue’s message is the first time she has communicated publicly — other than through her publicist — since giving birth at Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital on Monday.
The Australian singer was rumoured to have been offered exclusive magazine deals worth up to $200,000 to secure the first shots of Ethan.
But Minogue’s publicist Melissa LeGear said the singer had not planned to sell rights to the photos.
The X Factor judge was checked into the maternity ward under an alias in order to prevent paparazzi from flooding into the hospital.
She has since had local and overseas media awaiting her next move.
Minogue’s pop star sister Kylie will be arriving back in Australia later this month to meet her new nephew.
