Eight never-before-seen photographs of Angelina Jolie have been released, showing the Salt star in provocative poses and with S&M props.
The pictures were taken in 1999 by a former friend who sold them to tabloid publication Star.
In one shot Jolie is seen with black sticky tape over her nipples and a cigarette in her mouth while another apparently shows her during a "14-hour heroin-smoking bender".
A black-and-white shot shows her sitting on a bed wearing just a cowboy hat and a G-string.
The mother-of-six has not commented on the pictures, which will be released next month in an in a book written by notorious celebrity biographer Andrew Morton.
Morton, who also wrote biographies for Tom Cruise and Princess Diana, said the photos "didn't exactly fit with her image today as a responsible mother ... and a highly respected goodwill ambassador for the United Nations".
Some media outlets have questioned how the photos stayed under wraps for so long.
Jolie is no stranger to scandal: she French kissed her brother James Haven at the 2000 Oscars, has admitted to lesbian relationships and once put her former husband Billy Bob Thorton's blood in a vial she wore around her neck.
