Pop star Lily Allen has announced that she is expecting a baby with her builder boyfriend Sam Cooper, 32.

The 25-year-old British singer, who is three months pregnant, told the Press Association that she and her boyfriend are "absolutely delighted". "It brings me great pleasure to tell you that Sam and I are expecting our first child," she said.

Allen and Cooper have been dating since July 2009, but were friends for several years beforehand. The hard-partying singer used to be regularly photographed stumbling out of bars and clubs, but over the past few months she has been on a health kick.

She told reporters in May that she wanted to be pregnant by the end of the year and had purchased a country home in west-central England.

This is not the singer's first pregnancy. In 2008 she suffered a miscarriage after becoming pregnant to The Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons.
