Brittany Murphy's mother Sharon often shared a bed with her daughter's widower Simon Monjack after the actress died last year, a report claims.

Sharon Murphy told a police investigator about the sleeping arrangement while walking through Monjack's apartment earlier this year, celebrity website TMZ reports.

The actress's mother reportedly pointed out "her side of the bed" to the investigator.

Police also found bottles of prescription medication belonging to both Monjack and Sharon Murphy on a bedside table.

The claims were reportedly detailed in a police report released yesterday.

There was no suggestion the pair had sex, the report said.

Brittany Murphy, who starred in films including 8 Mile and Just Married, died in December from what coronial officials later said was a combination of pneumonia, anaemia and the influence of prescription drugs.

Monjack was found dead in his apartment in May this year. His death was also attributed to pneumonia.
