Pop star Lady Gaga brought one of her concerts to a halt on Tuesday after two fans got into a fight.

The singer was performing her hit "Monster" when she suddenly stopped singing and yelled, "Stop the music ... stop the fighting ... do not fight at this show".

Gaga, who was performing at the Verizon Centre in Washington, apologised for the interruption before asking security if the commotion had been sorted.

“Is she okay, are they both okay, I don’t know who hit who," Gaga said.

"I'm sorry, I just don't want you to fight.

"Only fake monster fighting, okay?"

The show got back underway after the singer asked the crowd; "Do you think I am sexy?"
