Veteran DJ group Groove Armada are about to come home, to their second home that is.
The Australian summer is looming and the season will see some of the biggest names in hip hop/electro pop and indie rock take to our shores to blow minds at the country's unparalleled music festival, Parklife.
No stranger to the Australian festival crowd, Groove Armada return to the summer circuit to show off their career-defining crossover album, Black Light. And they literally can't wait.
"It's been a second home to us," Tom Findlay told AAP during a phone interview from his London kitchen.
"We've almost never had a bad time in Australia so that's got to be a good thing."
It has been eleven years since the London duo first arrived on the scene, and Findlay says it is not just the band that has had transformations.
"It's weird how much the audience has changed down there, people are so much more aware about different music," he said.
"Aussie crowds are really up for it and now they're really savvy and knowledgeable and there's not a lot not to like really."
Fans that saw Groove Armada at this year's Big Day Out can expect the Parklife show to be a far cry from what went down in January.
Tom explains they have worked long and hard to break down their existing live set and completely rebuild it.
"The lasers will still be there but the show's musically very different," he said.
"The gigs in January were the start of us playing that album, we learnt a lot on that tour and the music has changed beyond recognition. These shows are going to be much more visceral and much more in your face."
Black Light, the band's sixth studio album, boasts lyrics that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up and sees them make use of 80's synth-pop symphonies for the first time.
Featuring on the album is Nick Littlemore from Australian dance duo Pnau and Findlay says he is a massive fan of the current Australian music scene.
"When I was in Australia in January for BDO, the after parties were wild and DJs were playing amazing sets, there's so much good music coming out of Australia now," he said.
"I love [the] Presets, I'm really, really into them along with Cut Copy and Midnight Juggernaughts. There's certainly some good stuff around."
Findlay will have a double agenda whilst playing down under for Parklife.
The DJ is also out to recruit some local acts for Groove Armada's three day London summer music festival, Love Box.
"I'm always looking out for new artists and new bands. I get out there with my little talent scout hat on and have a look around," he laughed.
But at the end of the day Findlay says he is so happy to be heading back to Oz, the band's home away from home.
"I very rarely look forward to tours as much as I'm looking forward to this one."
* Parklife Festival will play Brisbane Saturday 25 September, Perth Sunday 26 September, Melbourne Saturday 2 October, Sydney Sunday 3 October, Adelaide Monday 4 October.
