TV and radio personality Kyle Sandilands has been ordered to spend a week in bed after being suspected of developing glandular fever.

The X Factor judge will spend the week in bed in the Sydney mansion he moved into just days ago, the Daily Telegraph reported.

Sandilands moved into the eight-bedroom home in Terrey Hills in Sydney's north on the weekend, before being unable appear on the X Factor on Sunday night.

"Kyle is sick — as simple as that," manager Andrew Hawkins said.

"His doctor told him it didn't matter if he was bank teller, a shopkeeper or a TV host — he needs a week off to recover."

Sandilands will not be appearing on his radio show on 2DayFM until Monday.
