Sarah Ferguson has poured out her feelings for ex-husband Prince Andrew during a hypnosis stunt filmed for a new reality show.

The 51-year-old Duchess of York is recorded saying she regrets the split from Prince Andrew, while lying on a reclining lounge with a satin pillow behind her head, The Sun newspaper reports.

"I wish we'd never got divorced," she said.

The UK tabloids say the stunt shows the lengths to which the ex-Duchess is willing to go to make money to pay debts.

The footage is part of her series "Finding Sarah" in which the Duchess explores her "guilt" and the effects that her divorce had on her two daughters Princess Beatrice, 22, and Eugenie, 21.

"He and I both wish we'd never got divorced, but we did. I wish I could go back and be the bride again, but I can't," she said.

"He's my best friend and the father of my children. He's a great ex."

The clip was intended to be used in a six-part series but it is understood that executives may decide not to use it, the newspaper reported.

A source close to Fergie claimed she probably only ever intended to do the session for off-air research.

"It's from getting fit again through to looking at why she's made the errors that she has made. Obviously part of trying to rebuild herself would be going to a psychiatrist."

The show is being produced by the Oprah Winfrey Network owned by the chat show host Oprah.

The Duchess spoke to Oprah earlier this month about how "difficult" it was not being invited to the wedding of the Prince William and Kate Middleton. (Read more: Fergie hurt by wedding snub)

Last year, Fergie was involved in a scandal where she was filmed by an undercover reported posing as an Indian businessman offering access to her former husband, Britain's trade minister for a sum of £500,000.
