She's a karate-kicking brunette amongst delicate blonde WAGs, but Jessica Bratich is now their queen.

WAGs stands for 'Wives And Girlfriends' of Austrailan Test cricketers and the fiancee of Australian pace bowler Mitchell Johnson has usurped Michael Clarke's model partner Lara Bingle as fan favourite.

The straight-talking Perth girl got the most votes from Ralph readers judging the women on their looks — but she isn't content to be an accessory.

"It's a stereotype … people think a WAG is all you are but we have our careers and ambitions," she told ninemsn.

"I don't like the stereotype, but you get what you're given."

It would be a brave man who would question that stance: Bratich has already travelled the world representing Australia in martial arts, taking five medals, and has won a total of 22 gold medals at national level.

Johnson will also need to watch his behaviour as her father Branco is a former national heavyweight karate champion.

But Bratich insists she's not interested in fighting — especially when her fellow WAGS are involved.

"All that stuff about us fighting … it's gossip and speculation and nothing else," she said.

"The're saying Georgie (Willis, partner of Simon Katich) and Rhianna (Ponting) don't get along and it's rubbish.

"Whenever they read it, they text each other and say 'have you seen this?'

"We're actually trying to swing it so we travel together (during the Ashes) … it's nice to be able to sit with the other girls."

Bratich insists she has developed a love of cricket since following her fiance from Perth to Brisbane, but Ralph editor Santi Pintado says her fame was sparked in a more traditional way — when a gust of wind on the red carpet outside the Allan Border medal caught the hem of her dress.

"It turned out she was wearing matching underwear and, well … that made an impression," he told ninemsn.

"But Stuart Clark has probably been a little slow off the mark in terms of getting his season together and Mitch has really stepped up with both bat and ball, so this change of status reflects on both of them.

"Then they got engaged, which is a big deal for both of them, and when you put it all together she's in the press pretty much on par with Lara.

"You could almost say they're vying for attention."

The figures — 34 percent for Jessica and 32 percent for Lara — suggests it's still a pretty close fight.

Bring on the Ashes!
