Rove McManus has secretly wedded his partner Tasma Walton in a private ceremony.

McManus and Walton, both 35, tied the knot in the West Australian resort town of Broome yesterday.

PHOTOS: Joy follows heartbreak for Rove

"Rove McManus and Tasma Walton are pleased to confirm that they were married on Tuesday June 16 in a private beach ceremony in Broome, Western Australia," a statement from the couple read.

"They celebrated the day with a small group of close family and friends."

The former Blue Heelers actress broke with tradition by proposing to Logies favourite McManus.

"It was Tasma who proposed to Rove, having first asked his mother for her blessing," the statement said.

Walton wore a vintage white 1970s sundress in the relaxed ceremony, News Ltd reports.

"The day was everything we hoped for: simple, quiet and intimate, in a beautiful Broome landscape with a small group of family and close friends celebrating beside us," Walton said.

Comedian McManus opted to go barefoot while exchanging vows.

"Tasma and I are very happy and look forward to that continuing for a long time to come," he said.

"It was wonderful to get to share that happiness with both our families and friends around us."

The intensely private couple began dating in 2007 and have been living together in McManus' Richmond home in Melbourne.

The chat show presenter tragically lost first wife Belinda Emmett to breast cancer in November 2006.

McManus and Walton had been friends for a decade after both growing up in WA.

It was Walton who introduced McManus to fellow Channel Seven star Emmett at the opening of Sydney’s Fox Studios in 1999.
