Jermaine Jackson (R) is hopeful his brother Michael will be buried at the Neverland Ranch estate.

Michael Jackson's elder brother Jermaine says he hopes the tragic King of Pop would eventually be buried at his Neverland Ranch estate.

In a tearful interview with NBC television on Thursday, Jermaine Jackson said Neverland - his brother's sprawling fantasy estate northwest of Los Angeles - would be a fitting final resting place for the pop star.

"This is his home, he created this. Why wouldn't he be here?" Jackson said in an interview with NBC's Today program broadcast from the estate.

"I feel his presence. And I love that, and I want my mother to come back here and feel what I feel. He built this place with love and you can see it and feel it."

A representative for the Jackson family has ruled out a public viewing of the star's body at Neverland, with speculation building that a memorial for the star would take place in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Jermaine Jackson, 54, meanwhile said the family was still struggling to come to terms with the death of their most famous member.

"There is nothing to be compared to this, 'cause we lost our brother, our hero. The world is mourning. We are mourning. The fans are mourning. It is unreal. Unbelievable," Jackson said.

"He went too soon," he added. "I wish that it was me. I've always felt that I was his backbone, someone to be there for him."

Jackson meanwhile refuted suggestions that his brother was frail and weak before his death on June 25 as he prepared for a gruelling concert comeback.

"I do believe and I do know that Mike is very strong, not just mentally but physically. He's a dancer, he never stopped dancing, he was already ready physically. He passed the physical, he was strong; he was ready," Jackson said.
