Is Tom Jordan Australia's answer to Miley Cyrus?
The Sydney teenager has just released his first single, Someone Somewhere, and has an album due out in August.
He's also landed a starring role on the Disney comedy series As the Bell Rings and will sing some self-penned songs on the show.
Jordan, 16, admits the comparisons to US tween singing sensation and Disney star Cyrus have already started.
"I think (I've heard that) once or twice, but I think I've got a fair way to go before I get to her success standard," Jordan told AAP.
"Even though I'm getting a lot of opportunities at my young age, I think it's going to be a long road, I've got a lot of time to progress and develop."
Australia's newest pop singer is so fresh-faced he conducts press interviews from his school playground.
"I'm at school, we just got let out for lunch so I might not be able to hear you at certain times," said Jordan, yelling over the sound of children playing.
Inspired by AC/DC's Angus Young when he was young, Jordan wrote his first song when he was 11 years old about being stuck on a shopping trip with his mother.
These days his inspiration is more John Mayer than AC/DC, and his songs focus on more mature subjects like girls.
Jordan got his lucky break when TV and radio personality Matt White saw him play a gig in Dee Why, on Sydney's northern beaches and invited him to come and play on his radio show.
"I went on and played one of my first songs, Too Young For a Girlfriend, on the air, and it was really cool and really fun," Jordan said.
"And then I got interest out of that from label people, and that's where it all started."
Jordan signed with ABC/Universal in 2007 when he was just 13, making him one of the youngest artists ever to secure a recording deal in Australia.
Since then he's toured twice with Guy Sebastian and is now eagerly awaiting the release of his self-titled debut album.
One of his biggest challenges is just fitting in his blossoming career around his school work.
And he said his friends are pretty cool about him disappearing during the lunch break to conduct media interviews.
"My friends are really supportive, which is really good," he said.
"They support me and give me inspiration to write songs."
