Last night she appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman in New York, and the talk show veteran cheekily produced a photo showing her adjusting the bottom half of her vintage dress, revealing flesh-coloured underwear.
"Tell us what's going on here," Letterman asked the young starlet.
"Um, this was a small wardrobe malfunction … that happens," a blushing Watson said.
"I don't actually remember it happening.
"At least I'm wearing underwear!
"I'm still learning, I'm still learning!"
Watson, who stars as Hermoine Granger in the Potter series of films, was on the US show to promote the sixth film Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
She also told Letterman of her plans to study an arts degree at a US university.
"I'm doing a liberal arts degree… and I'll hopefully focus on humanities," Watson said.
"I'm not quite sure what I want to major in, but probably, maybe English or maybe art."
