Tension in the Masterchef kitchen has reached boiling point, with contestants turning on competition favourite Chris Badenoch and naming him as the person they would least like to win.
As the popular television series heads into its final week, eliminated contestant Andre Ursini went on the attack against Badenoch, telling the Sunday Telegraph the 41-year-old beer merchant was not well-liked.
Ninemsn viewers have also stuck the boot in, slamming Badenoch for his arrogant ways and "greasy appearance".
"It's well known that Chris is quite negative, quite cynical, and that was draining to be around," Ursini was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
"He will admit that but I appreciated his approach he didn't show any emotion whatsoever. . . There are others that I'd rather win."
It is not the first time a Masterchef contestant has expressed a dislike for Badenoch.
Ousted cook Ling Yeow, who was invited back onto the Network Ten series, accused Badenoch of sabotaging her performance when she was eliminated on June 18.
"Chris took on the role of team captain . . . he also did a few things that was [sic] a bit of sabotage and I found it quite unfair," she said.
Meanwhile, ninemsn readers have passed their own judgement on Bedenoch, labelling him arrogant and unkempt and slamming him for wearing his trademark hat indoors.
"There's nothing wrong with ambition and confidence but Chris "hat boy" Badenoch is arrogant and ungracious," one ninemsn reader wrote.
"He mostly makes the right noises in the sound grabs, but if you watch the live action carefully, his body language belies his real feelings."
Another reader, who identified herself as Cheryl from Brisbane, agreed.
"I would not eat Chris's food, he always looks grotty, unshaven and with greasy hair that hangs down under that hat.
"What is with the hat anyway? It looks terrible in the kitchen and can't remember ever seeing a chef wearing such a hat. The girls always look clean."
