Michael Jackson's family has moved the late pop star's body to an underground location over fears crazed fans would break into his coffin, according to reports.

After last week's memorial service, the coffin was put inside the private crypt of Motown founder Berry Gordy at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills.

The Jackson family hoped to keep this location a secret until picking a final burial place.

But word got out and fans flocked to the site to see the casket.

So last weekend the late King of Pop was moved to the basement of the main building at the Forest Lawn cemetery, UK newspapers report.

"The Jackson family was not pleased and ordered the casket to be placed in the basement for security reasons," The Sun quoted an unnamed source as saying.

Michael Jackson's final resting place has been delayed as medical examiners continue tests on his brain to see what drugs he had taken before his death.

His brothers want to bury him at his fairytale Neverland ranch in central California — a proposal that matriarch Katherine Jackson opposes because, The Mirror claims, the pop star came to hate the property after a police raid there in 2003.

It has also emerged that Jackson's sister LaToya was responsible for deciding how her brother's body was presented in his viewing casket at the memorial service.

This including picking out the white glove placed beside him, the black trousers studded with black beads, a pearl-beaded white jacket and a gold belt that resembled a championship boxing belt.
