The TV show more than 2 million Australians want to watch

The Nine Network has announced its plans for a new digital channel named Go!

The free-to-air channel, to be launched in August, will have a youth focus and target 14-39 year olds.

Popular TV programs to be aired on the channel include teen drama Gossip Girl and the Baltimore-based HBO hit The Wire.

Other TV series in the Go! line-up will be The Hills, FRINGE, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Survivor, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Hells Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares, CSI and hit comedy series Seinfeld.

Nine Network CEO David Gyngell said the channel would also broadcast popular US drama The Vampire Diaries, about a high school girl torn between two rival vampire brothers.

"This multi-channel is a natural evolution for Nine and for free-to-air television," Mr Gyngell said.

"And that's the key word — it means that within weeks our viewers will have access free of charge to a second channel offering quality and a great deal of first-run content through its schedule.

"It’s a win for our audience because it offers more diversity and substantially wider viewing choices than ever before, at no cost."

The channel will be available to anyone who has a digital set-top box connected to their television.
