Kyle Sandilands has denied he is a "woman-hater" after an on-air rant against a female journalist cost his radio show two sponsors.

The shock jock called the news.com.au journalist a "fat slag", made derogatory comments about her hair and breasts and threatened to hunt her down after she gave his new TV show a bad review.

Car manufacturer Holden and electronics retailer The Good Guys cancelled sponsorship of the Kyle & Jackie O Show yesterday following the comments.

This morning Sandilands went on the defensive, saying on the breakfast radio show that he has nothing against women.

"They're outraged that I went on a personal attack on this woman," he said.

"They're saying that I only attack female journalists ... I am the last thing on earth like a woman-hater."

His co-host Jackie O supported him.

"I don't think I could ever work with a woman-hater," she said.

"I think that you treat women, especially here at the station, what I see the interaction with you and women, is nothing but the most respect.

"I think your biggest fault is that you don't like anyone criticising you because then you attack back, but it's certainly not reserved to women."

Sandilands said he would always retaliate "due to someone else's crazy, outrageous allegations".

"You'll have your personal opinion but I'll also have mine because thats the country we live in," he said.

His tirade came after news.com.au posted a story about Twitter reaction to Sandilands' and Jackie O's TV chat show, A Night with the Stars, which bombed in the ratings on Monday night.

Holden was the first to drop sponsorship of the radio show, issuing a statement on its website yesterday afternoon.

"Recent comments made on the Kyle and Jackie O Breakfast Show do not in any way reflect the views or opinions of Holden and we are very disappointed to hear Kyle's personal attack on a journalist," the statement read.

"We believe the show is no longer in line with Holden's core values and as a result we have taken action to withdraw our sponsorship of the program, effective immediately."

Shortly afterwards home appliance store The Good Guys posted on its Twitter page that it was following Holden's lead.

"The Good Guys does not condone the recent actions of Kyle Sandilands and has withdrawn breakfast sponsorship of the Kyle and Jackie O show," the company tweeted.
