Julian Assange has recruited fellow Australian and author Kathy Lette to script his cameo appearance in hit US animation show The Simpsons, say reports from London.
Lette, who is the wife of Assange's former barrister Geoffrey Robertson QC, gave away details of the episode - due to be screened in America on Sunday - which is the 500th in the popular series.
Audiences can expect to see the screen incarnation of the silver-haired secret-leaker throw a few prawns on the barbie for Homer and Marge, Lette told London's Evening Standard newspaper.
"Julian and The Simpsons producers asked me to rewrite his scene and dialogue," said the bubbly Australian.
"I guess they just wanted me to add a little Aussie irony to the script. Julian does not suffer from any irony deficiency.
"I used to write a sitcom ... so the producers knew I could fire off a quip or two."
Assange, 40, recorded his voice for The Simpsons at a secret location just outside London where he is under house arrest awaiting the decision of seven British Supreme Court judges on his extradition to Sweden to answer sexual assault allegations.
He denies claims by two women that he assaulted them in August 2010 during a visit to Stockholm.
Swedish prosecutors want him back in the country for questioning, but Assange hopes the British court will reject their arrest warrant.
"Julian stayed in my attic for a little while," Lette said.
"... It was while he was staying that Julian admitted he didn't read much fiction. So as soon as he was incarcerated on remand, I sent him a package of my novels with a note saying I was pleased to now have a 'captive audience'. Literally.
"I haven't seen the final version of The Simpsons, but my best joke is when I get Marge to ask Julian for his recipe at a barbecue and he replies 'I never reveal my sauces'."
Assange's animation appearance, which is due to screen in Australia in March, is not his lone dabble in television.
He is to become the host of a chat show to be screened on Russian television later in 2012, where he will interview guests.
