British singer Adele has flipped the bird to everyone watching the Brit Awards broadcast after she was cut off mid-sentence during an emotional acceptance speech.

The visibly irritated singer had just won the prestigious award for Best British Album when she was shooed off stage.

"Nothing beats coming home with six Grammys and then coming to the Brits and winning Album of the Year," Adele said in her speech.

"I'm so proud to be flying the British flag for all of you."

Host James Corden then walked up to the singer as the crowd began booing.

"I'm so sorry and I can't believe I'm about to cut you off …" Corden said into the microphone.

"Are you about to cut me off? Can I just say then, goodbye and I'll see you next time round" Adele yelled before sticking her middle finger up to cheers from the audience.

Adele was fuming her speech had been cut short.

"I was about to thank the British public for their support. They cut me off, sorry if I offended anyone but the suits offended me," she said afterwards.

"I got cut off during my speech and I flung the middle finger. But that finger was to the suits at the Brit Awards, not to my fans."

Corden, who introduced Blur to the stage right after he cut Adele off, said he was upset he was made to do it.

"I was having the best night of my life and then I was told to cut her off. She's the biggest star in the world and I love her," he said after the show.

"I don't understand what happened. I'm really upset."

It was not the only hiccup of the night — earlier on, a member of the audience walked right in front of the camera as Corden was introducing a performer to the stage.
