Australian celebrities have turned out for the Sydney premiere of the irreverent puppet stage show, Avenue Q.
Actors Michael Caton, David Wenham and The Chaser's Julian Morrow and Craig Reucassel were among guests to attend the opening at the Theatre Royal on Wednesday night.
Popstar Dannii Minogue's rugby league player boyfriend Kris Smith attended but Minogue was absent.
The Tony award-winning comedy musical, which is in its sixth and final year on Broadway, is about a poor wide-eyed college graduate called Princeton and his neighbours in Brooklyn, New York.
The characters are inspired by characters from the children's TV program Sesame Street, but the show couldn't be more different, with songs like, Everyone's A Little Bit Racist, If You Were Gay, The Internet Is For Porn, I'm Not Wearing Underwear Today, and It Sucks To Be Me.
Former McLeod's Daughters star Michala Banas, who brings to life two characters, the nightclub singer Lucy T.Slut and her rival kindergarten teacher's assistant Kate Monster, said she was excited about the Sydney season after opening in Melbourne.
"People seem to be enjoying it, so, so far so good," Banas told AAP.
"I think it's going to get a cult following by the look of it because it's getting really popular.
"And it's good to see we're bringing people out who might not see a show very often."
Director Jonathan Biggins says the show could be described as Sesame Street meets South Park.
He said he had feedback that it went further than the London version.
"We've actually probably made it much funnier," he said.
After the Sydney season, Avenue Q will play in Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and Wellington, before wrapping up in Auckland in May 2010.
