Self-confessed NRL cougar Charmyne Palavi has won an early victory in a lawsuit against a Sydney radio station that allegedly labelling her a "slut" in her dealings with rugby league players.

A statement of claim filed with the NSW District Court alleges the Sydney station implied the 38-year-old mother-of-three was also "a madam" and "runs a brothel", the Daily Telegraph reports.

The segment was aired on the Steve Price Show in the wake of the Matthew Johns group sex scandal.

The claim also alleges 2UE made defamatory suggestions that Ms Palavi "puts NRL players and underage girls together for sex" and "condones NRL players having sex with underage girls in a very organised fashion".

The station made a request to the court that all but one of the imputations be struck out of the statement of claim.

But the application was dismissed by Judge Judith Gibson who ruled that a jury should be left to make a judgement on the imputations.

Appearing on the Nine Network's A Current Affair last week, Ms Palavi told how she is happily engaged to 22-year-old Michael Browne — who is 16 years her junior — and said she was not bothered by her reputation as a cougar but objected to being called an NRL groupie.

"I don't think it's that bad a rap or a bad call to be labelled as a cougar," she said.

Despite settling down, Ms Palavi was still up-front about the appeal of football players.

"They've just got really good bodies and they're a bit cheeky and naughty," she said.
