Sonia Kruger and Todd McKenney have been axed from their morning radio show.

The pair, who both star in reality TV show Dancing With The Stars, will "pursue their careers elsewhere" according to a statement from Mix106.5 parent company Australian Radio Network.

McKenney will leave his post immediately while Kruger will see out the rest of her contract and stay on with Mix106.5 until the end of the year.

The duo is currently off air due to the no-ratings period and their show is being hosted by the breakfast team of Ange, Jamie and Christo. The fill-in hosts will now continue to host indefinitely.

The departure of McKenney comes after two turbulent years on air.

Radio executives stood by McKenney last year when he was charged with drug possession after being found unconscious in a Sydney park.

The charges were later dropped but not before embarrassing details emerged of McKenney's wild party antics.

McKenney told police drugs found in his pocket did not belong to him and must have been slipped into his pants when he had taken them off to dance earlier in the night.

The song and dance man again made headlines in June when he told a women's magazine he wanted Kruger to have his baby.

The openly gay performer said Kruger was yet to give him an answer.

They have suffered sliding ratings since last year and in November the show’s executive producer Brenden Wood was axed.

Kruger and McKenney were both reportedly earning salaries of between $800,000 and $1 million, which was rumoured to have placed pressure on the station's finances.
