Angelina Jolie slept with her mother's boyfriend when she was just 16 years old, an upcoming unofficial biography is set to claim.

According to the book being written by Andrew Morton, the Hollywood star had sex with the man while he was living with the family, Now magazine reports.

"Marcheline (Jolie's mum) had a live-in boyfriend whom she was very much in love with, but Ange slept with him when she was 16 and barely out of school," the magazine quoted a source as saying.

Jolie, 34, has said she enjoyed a close relationship with her mother, who died of cancer in 2007 at the age of 56.

But the pair reportedly struggled to rebuild their relationship after the affair came to light.

"Her mother found out and ended her relationship with the man," the source said.

Jolie only recently told her brother James Haven of the affair, who responded by "turning on her", the source said.

"She has hardly anyone left in life who likes or trusts her."

Representatives for Jolie have refused to comment on the allegations.

Jolie, now a mother-of-six with partner Brad Pitt, is no stranger to sexual scandals in her past.

The star has openly admitted to being bisexual: she had an affair with a Foxfire co-star Jenny Shimizu in 1996 and performed explicit lesbian sex scenes for her first starring role in Gia.

The lesbian romance happened after she married British actor Johnny Lee Miller wearing black rubber pants and a white shirt on which she had written the groom's name in her blood.

But it was Jolie's bizarre relationship with her second husband Billy Bob Thornton which raised the most eyebrows after the couple famously took to wearing one another's blood in vials around their necks.
